🐰Rabbits have very complex needs, they lose a lot of body heat whilst under anaesthetic and are hindgut fermenters. This means that rather than digesting food in the stomach and absorbing nutrients immediately, they first pass food through most of the digestive tract to the caecum. Due to this it is extremely important that rabbits have a constant source of food passing through and their stomach should never be empty.

🐰To keep stress to a minimum, our rabbit patients are kept in a separate ward away from any other patients. If we can then we will also give them the entire room so that they can have the run of the whole area which assists in keeping their guts moving.

🐰To aid in a smooth recovery, they all receive warm intravenous fluids pre, intra and post operatively.
🐰They are also kept warm with bubble wrap jackets, knitted booties and hot water discs.

🐰It is very important that rabbits start eating as quickly as possible after they are awake from their anaesthetic, if they aren’t eating by the time they are stable on their feet (approx. 1 hour after GA) then we will syringe feed them, as show here with Waffle who recently visited us for her spay procedure 💖😍

🐰Once rabbit patients are eating independently and passing faeces then they can go home.

RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre rescued 92 guinea pigs at the end of last year, which means we have had the pleasure of seeing lots of them when they have visited us for their neutering procedures 😍

If you feel you can offer a piggie a loving home then please visit the centres website for details on how to apply 🐹

I would like to thank the vet Bruce McLeary, and all the nurses at Meopham vets for all their quick and caring response, to my bitch Misty who had an emergency caesarian today and looked after my bitch and her pups fantastically thank you to you all

Ms Sankey

To all pet owners looking for the very best in vet advice and care then book your pet in here, we have used The Swanscombe & Meopham Surgeries since 2006 after re-homing our Sophie from Cats Protection & the rest of her life was never free from health problems. When Sophie had to stay in at the vets I visited her daily & the cages were spotless, clean blankets & nurses on continual attendance. We can't say enough about all the staff, they treated her like a part of their family.

Maureen & Tom Partridge

Thank you to all at Meopham Veterinary Hospital for looking after Ted & Hector as well as if they were your own puppies. I always know that they will get the best care, and am sure Ted would not be here at all if it weren't for you guys. Ted & Hector are the light of our lives, so your exemplary care of them is, to us, priceless. Thank you.

The Robinson family

Great skills, great care, great service and understanding.

I have been a client, with my various dogs, since 1999 and can honestly say that I have been totally satisfied with Meopham Vets throughout this time. The care and consideration shown to our dogs has been amazing. I usually try to see Martin as I have known him so long, but I have no objection to seeing any of the vets as they all have the same qualities, especially Bruce. The nurses are all wonderful and over the years I have become close to some of them and have watched as they have developed their careers under the guidance of Martin. The reception / office staff are brilliant too and I have never had a problem getting appointments. The out of hours service is second to none. My dogs throughout their lives have been looked after and loved by all the staff and when it has come to the final goodbyes they and I have been treated with amazing sensitivity and kindness. In a nutshell, I could not recommend this practice highly enough.

A big thank you for looking after our pets over the years, all 22 of them! We think you can all perform miracles. In sad times the impossible cannot always we done but you have all given us the strength and helped us to cope once again. Thank you all.

Mrs Kinch

Service is always the best. Everyone cares for your pet as if it's their own.

Mrs Parker

Absolutely first class care, always.

Freddie has completed 10 hydrotherapy sessions following TPLO surgery to repair his ruptured cruciate ligament. Freddie is now back to his normal self and has regained his strength which exceeded all our expectations. He has suffered with bad skin for years and we were worried that the sessions would have a detrimental effect however his skin has never been better! He now enjoys coming into the vets and he adores hydrotherapist Amy! We are thrilled with his progress and would thoroughly recommend hydrotherapy to others.

Mrs Cooper

Thank you all on behalf of ESSW for the wonderful care and superb treatment that Eesha has received over the last weeks. She is such a lovely girl and truly deserved every bit of it!
