Moss is a 2 and a half year old cat that presented to Vet, Sioned recently very lethargic and reluctant to move after being outside.  It was suspected that he had sustained trauma whilst being out.

On examination Sioned revealed a 1.5cm wound to the left side of his chest which appeared to have a deep pocket.  There was also a smaller wound close by on his sternum.  As Sioned was unsure of the depth she recommended Moss was sedated for this area to be fully investigated, cleaned and sutured.  The owner consented to this.

Under anaesthetic Sioned found that there was a connection between the two wounds and a plastic air gun pellet was found positioned within the wound.  The area was thoroughly flushed with sterile saline, the wounds were aligned and surgically closed, he was given antibiotics and pain relief and transferred to the care of our nursing team.

We are pleased to report by the very next day Moss was bright, eating and purring away!  He was discharged home to his owners to continue his course of medication and for strict rest.  Due to the position of his wounds it was important he had minimal movement in this area to allow healing.  By his post-operative check 5 days later the wound was showing signs of healing beautifully!  He could now start to build up his exercise over the next few weeks and was signed off from our care
