Poppy is a 1 year old Beagle that presented to Vet, Becki recently after her owner’s reported she was yelping when trying to pass faeces.  On examination there was string protruding from her back end.  As Poppy was so painful we weren’t able to examine her further whilst awake so her owner’s consented to sedation.

After Poppy was sedated an abdominal radiograph was performed and revealed a sewing needle was indeed attached to the end of the string!  This is evident within the radiographs below.   This was successfully removed and Poppy was sent home later that day with pain relief.  We are pleased to report she made a full recovery.

Thank you to Poppy’s owners for allowing us to share her story.
